The college has set up a career counselling and placement cell which maintains professional relations with representatives of industry. Through the career counselling cell the students are guided and informed about the various career options available to them. The HR managers of various companies are invited to the college campus to interact with the students. The students of various departments of the college are taken for industry-related visits from time to time to keep them acquainted with the latest developments in the economy.
Members of the Students’ Counselling Cell will be available on every working Saturday at the Principal’s Ante Chamber from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Students seeking help/advice on academic matter as well as other matters may contact this cell for support services.
The Students Counselling Cell of Darjeeling Government College provides personal and vocational guidance to students of all the departments of the College. Personal Counselling Sessions are conducted at the Centre by qualified and experienced Counsellors to help students resolve any kind of problems that they might face. These are client-oriented and are conducted on a one-to-one basis with each student where the Counsellor brings an utterly non-judgemental attitude to the table. Besides career-related problems, personal issues are also dealt with. Confidentiality is a legal requirement of counselling, and is strictly maintained. Thus the Counselling Cell provides a platform for students to pursue both their professional and personal goals with greater self-awareness, self-esteem, understanding and a focus.
