Student Grievances Redressal Cell (SGRC)

Right to be heard and treated without bias.

Darjeeling Government College has constituted Students’ Grievance Redressal (SGRC) Committee as per the guidelines set by the University Grants Commission (Redress of Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2019 published vide Notification F.No. 14-4/2012(CPP-2), dated 6.5.2019 act 3391 and University Grants Commission (Redressal of Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2023. It aims at effectively addressing and resolving grievances of the students on various academic and non academic concerns. All students of DGC have equal access to the Students’ Grievance Redressal Committee to voice their concerns on the following matters

  • Academic matter within the purview of the college (classes, classrooms, library etc.).
  • Scholarship issues.
  • Discrimination issues based on caste, creed, religion, language, ethnicity, gender or disabilities.
  • Basic infrastructural issues.

 

The college has a zero-tolerance policy for any form of grievance.

 

Objective:

  • To redress the grievances reported by the students in a judicious and transparent  manner.
  • To help the students to express their genuine grievance without any inhibition and to timely redress it
  • To develop and maintain a conducive educational atmosphere in the college to uphold the dignity of the students.

 

Procedure for voicing the grievance:

Steps Procedure
1 The grievance form may be downloaded from the website or procured from the college office
2 The form may be dropped in the Grievance box installed in front of the main college entrance
3 May be reported directly to the committee members in a written form

 

Composition of the Students’ Grievance Redressal Committee:

The Grievance Redressal Committee, DGC is constituted with the following members for the academic Session 2023-2024.  The term of the committee shall be two years as enshrined in the UGC (Redressal of Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2023.

Prof Varsha Rani Gajamer, Department of Microbiology (9647775465 E-mail gajamer.varsharani@gmail.com ) has joined as a new member in place of Prof Rana Saha (transferred) with effect from 19.03.2024.

The SGRC shall have student representation besides receiving and investigating student complaints within fifteen working days, using principles of justice. Accordingly, the committee has nominated one students’ representative as a special invitee as per the UGC guidelines. The term of the special invitee is for one year.The SRGC shall hear the student and the person against whom the complaint is made.
