About The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was constituted in Darjeeling Government college on 23^rd September 2015. with the sole objective of guiding and assessing the Academic and Administrative activities of the college. Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is conceived as a mechanism to build and ensure a quality culture at the institutional level. The IQAC is meant for planning, guiding and monitoring Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Enhancement (QE) activities of the colleges. Through a systematic approach to quality enhancement, Darjeeling Government College aims to create an environment that fosters academic excellence, innovation, and holistic development. The college prioritizes stakeholders’ feedback, conduct regular assessments, and implement effective strategies to strive for continuous improvement across all spheres of the institution. It constantly reviews the teaching-learning process, structures and Methodologies of operations, and learning outcomes at periodic intervals and records the incremental improvement in various activities of the institution. The IQAC functions as a driving force for ushering in quality by working out intervention strategies to remove deficiencies and enhance quality.

 

Goals of IQAC (as per UGC)

1.  To develop a quality system for conscious, consistent and catalytic programmed action to improve the academic and administrative performance of the College
2.  To promote measures for institutional functioning towards quality enhancement through internationalization of quality culture and institutionalization of best practices

 

Some of the functions of IQAC specified by UGC

1. Development and application of quality benchmarks /parameters for the various academic and administrative activities of the Colleges; 
2. Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive for quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process;
3. Arrangement for feedback responses from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality related institutional processes;
4. Dissemination of information on the various quality parameters of higher education;
5. Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles; 
6. Documentation of the various programmes /activities of the College, leading to quality improvement.
7. Acting as a nodal agency of the college for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of good practices 
8. Development and maintenance of institutional database for the purpose of maintaining / enhancing the institutional quality;
9. Preparation and submission of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC
10. Follow up of suggestions and recommendations given by audit teams and evaluating bodies for quality improvement.
