Among the facilities provided to the students, Darjeeling Government College came up with the initiative of providing a “Medical Assistance Room” for the students during medical emergencies. For this, a separate bed with clean pillow, bedsheet and blanket was placed in the medical assistance room. The room is also equipped with first-aid facilities (wound cleaning solution, cotton, bandage, band-aid, gauze, spirit, red-lotion, hand gloves, masks, towels, painkillers, thermometer) and blood pressure-measuring machine. The Medical Assistance Room started functioning from November 2023.
Under the instructions of Officer-In-Charge of DGC, Dr. Prajjwal Chandra Lama, Prof. Sheela Karjee (Department of Economics) and Prof. Priyanka Saha (Department of Zoology) together with non-teaching staffs, Md. Syed and Mingma Bhutia, started this initiative of opening Medical Assistance Room in the College. The Room is maintained and supervised by the members of the Health and Hygiene Monitoring Committee, DGC.
