Research Code and Ethics

The Code of Ethics in Research incorporates the basic principles of ethical conduct directed towards the attainment of the ideals of research, foremost being perusal of truth and benefits to the community. Research that involves human subjects or participants raises unique and complex ethical, legal, social and political issues. Research ethics is specifically interested in the analysis of ethical issues that are raised when people are involved as participants in research. There are three objectives in research ethics. The first and broadest objective is to protect human participants. The second objective is to ensure that research is conducted in a way that serves interests of individuals, groups and/or society as a whole. Finally, the third objective is to examine specific research activities and projects for their ethical soundness, looking at issues such as the management of risk, protection of confidentiality and the process of informed consent.

It is imperative that Darjeeling Government College, like any other Institution, has its own set of principles to guide the faculty and students, at the same time according a definite degree of academic freedom. We, the faculty of this College, consider it our duty to uphold this pursuit of truth within the stipulated framework of ethical conduct. The institution has a stated Code of Ethics to check malpractices and plagiarism in Research. Plagiarism testing of Research Works, Project reports and Papers are done at the central library manually and using "URKUND"weblink  and the reports are generated from there.
