Department Of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry, Darjeeling Government College, Darjeeling established in the year 1948 and since then this department has been offering ample scope of learning Chemical Science to students under the curriculum structure provided by the University of North Bengal. A genuine effort is given to students for their nourishment according to their learning capacity in a healthy and friendly atmosphere. This department also concentrates on the gradual development of an analytical mind to understand the fundamental scientific principles in Chemical Science and to build independent thinking ability to develop confidence for conducting appropriate research experiments. For this, a lot of time is devoted to practical classes.

After successful completion of B.Sc. in Chemistry under the CBCS Curriculum they get the opportunity of higher studies in different Universities and subsequently can join in the field of research. They also get different employment exposures like teaching, and in R&D, etc.

Citable information about all the above 4 (Four) year courses :

Undergraduate degree programmes of either 3-years (Six Semesters) CBCS and 4-year (Eight Semesters) duration, FYUGP with multiple entry and exit points and re-entry options, with appropriate certifications such as :

  1. A UG certificate after completing 1 year (2 semesters) on study in the chosen fields of study
  2. A UG diploma after 2 years (4 semesters) of study
  3. A bachelor’s degree after a 3-year (6 semesters) programme of study
  4. A 4-year bachelor’s degree (honours) after eight semesters programme of study. If the student completes a rigorous research project in their major area(s) of study in the 4th year then a bachelor’s degree (Honours with research)

Details of Infrastructural Facilities and Logistic Support :
